Discussions

Craig & Walt explained the design of the water collection system and drainage in our neighborhood.

Walt appealed to the residents present to be aware of the bids we review annually to ask for community involvement in helping to seek bids from any contractors/entities they may know. He also explained the process of the bids, budget vote and approval before the December annual meeting.

Craig called for new business.

Don asked if the Pond maintenance company is responsible for any loss of slope integrity on the ponds during their work over the last 15 years. Walt indicated the water treatment is the responsibility of Lake Doctors and SFWMD handles the review of the actual drainage system.

Resident complained about the current appearance of the drainage system, over growth and mosquitoes. Walt addressed the by explaining the drainage system.

Resident brought up why the inspector didn’t mention the erosion when there was a 1 foot encroachment, and waited until there was a 5 foot encroachment, which costs more to repair. Walt explained the repairs that were done in Pond G and the upcoming corrections that need to be done. RESIDENT NOTED THAT HE HAD A COMPANY PRESENT A BID TO THE MGMT COMPANY FOR POND WORK WHICH WAS TURNED AWAY. He called and the bid was accepted.

Resident mentioned that we should require 3 bids before voting on any work. We explained that many companies either would not take the work because it was too much or too little. In the case of Lake Doctors, there are limited providers who do the work we need done.

Resident asked if our contact at the mgmt company is not working hard enough for our community. If the contact for our community is not on top of the requests, responsive, etc… then it was suggested that we seek representation from another company.

Resident mentioned that her mother has an HOA and their mgmt company handles more amenities than we offer and they are “on the ball” handling any and all issues.

Resident asked about where the financials are currently for next year. We explained the repairs that have been done to date and the upcoming repairs.

Resident expressed how could we hold SFWMD accountable for not notifying us of the erosion problems as they continued to become worse.

In our next newsletter, please include a request for residents to help seeks bids for work that needs to be done within our community. Also, include a blurb that residents who see people running 4-wheelers or other non-legal vehicles, DO NOT WAIT for the board…CALL THE SHERIFF and report it, help identify the person who is guilty of causing damage so we can seek recovery or we will all share in the cost out of our pockets.

Resident asked who receives the money for citations, Polk County. We pay him to cover Enclave only.

Next meeting 10/6/20, 11/5/20, 12/7/20.
